Thierry Berra, Director of Finance & Administration
Microsoft Dynamics NAV
Thierry Berra, Director of Finance & Administration of the U.I.C. (International Union of Railways), was looking for a stable, sustainable and robust IT solution.
WHO ARE THE UIC?
It is an international association under the law of 1901 which groups together all of the world’s rail networks. We have two main missions. The first as an association, to promote and protect the interests of railways in the world, and a second mission as a design office, to work on projects in cooperation with the different networks.
REASONS FOR CHANGE
We had not made the necessary updates over the years and it got to a point where trying to adapt to eveolutions was next to impossible because the system had become obsolete. So we found ourselves with very important gaps between the different versions with our main system not being maintained anymore.
WHY PRODWARE ADJUST PROFESSIONAL SERVICES?
To make this product work, we needed a stable, sustainable and robust accounting platform, so we opted for the new Microsoft Dynamics NAV solution. We have 240 projects underway, which we need to monitor very closely and run analytical queries. Moreover, we are very interested in the budget management functionnalities. We have access to both the budget forecasts and reporting wizard, critical for our management needs.
Prodware has been supporting us since 2005-2006, which dates back to the implementation of our legacy software. This collaboration has helped us grow bringing new insights into technical and functionnality areas. We collaborated with people who knew the UIC very well and had both the functional and technical skill sets. I am very happy that Prodware is based in Paris because it makes it easier to address complex technical issues when they arise instead of having to communicate by videoconferencing. The Prodware team is made up of competent and reliable professionals.
With this new version of Dynamics NAV, we benefit from all the structuring of the charts of accounts and cost plans, functionalities that weren’t available in the old version. Following this change of solutions, we seized the opportunity to capitalize and change what could be improved.
